Dance/Movement Therapy

Dance/movement therapy (DMT) is a form of psychotherapy that uses movement to enhance overall well-being.  DMT acknowledges that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected, and changes in one can affect the others.  This approach recognizes that movement serves various purposes beyond mere physical function and can be a means of communication, development, and expression. 

In Dance/Movement Therapy, therapists use both nonverbal and verbal communication to understand and address emotional, social, cognitive, and physical aspects of an individual.
